Camp
Uncas – The Adirondack Collection.
This
18 piece collection depicts views of the Adirondacks during Betsy’s
stays at Camp Uncas. Barabara
Glaser, director of the Open Space project in Saratoga, and one of the
most vocal persons on land protection issues, has offered Betsy many
times to come and reside at the camp on Lake Mohegan in the Raquette
Lake area. Betsy has
visited Uncas several times during the spring to work on finishing up
ongoing pieces; notably for the Hyde Museum exhibition among others.
It has been a dream of hers to capture the essence of the area
that abounds Uncas, which is what the work embodies.
Her work creates a gut feeling of tranquility and peace that
could be anywhere in lush wooded areas.
Betsy loves how the representational look up close is almost
abstract, making her feel like she melded two different styles rather
than taking a left turn and shocking people with realistic clarity.
This
collection is a gift to Barbara Glaser, who has been so generous over
the years. 25% of all sales
will be given to the Open Space Project for land conservancy purposes.
